What is STEMing Change?
Simply put, a FREE bootcamp for elementary, middle and high school Girls in STEM!
Part of our goal as a team is to increase gender diversity in STEM. In order to follow through with this, we created STEMing Change, an annual bootcamp for girls and gender minorities to get involved in learning engineering concepts.

This year, STEMing Change is on February 4th, 2023 from 9 AM to 12 PM at Heritage High School.
What activities do we do?
Our event is completely coordinated and taught by the girls of our team! We split the campers into three groups, where they delve into learning different engineering concepts through activities and challenges! At the end of the activities all groups will reconvene and get the opportunity to learn more about FIRST Robotics and meet our robot!

Mindstorm Parkour
(Grades 3-5)
Hardcore Parkour! How does a robot understand what it's supposed to be doing and reiterate processes? In this age group, students will learn basic programming concepts, such as variables, if statements and loops by assembling and programming a LEGO EV3 robot to complete an obstacle course as fast as possible.

ChallENGineering
(Grades 6-8)
How do spacecrafts land? How do cars protect you in a crash? In this age group, students will learn concepts like drag forces, acceleration down inclines, and crumple zones in order to complete challenges to protect eggs when landing spacecrafts and crashing cars of their own design.

Arduino Speedway
(Grades 9-12)
Ready, Steady, Go! How does line following work? In this age group, students will learn about sensors and the basics of PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) controlling by assembling and programming an Arduino bot to complete a timed trial on a line-following raceway.
